macOS sed requires 'sed -i "" ...' syntax while Linux uses 'sed -i ...'. Switched to 'perl -i -pe' which works identically on both platforms. Also updated grep command to work on macOS which doesn't have grep -P (PCRE support) by adding a fallback using standard grep.
